VE4OK (Amateur Radio Callsign)

Welcome to...

Gordon Jewsbury ONLINE !

I appreciate the time you are taking to view my Website.

I have been working with computers as a hobby now since around 1980.  In 1982 I got interested in electronics and communications.  In 1989 added to this hobby by adding Amateur Radio to it and explored Digital Communications.

In the 90's I was the SysOp (System Operator) of a Landline BBS (Bulletin Board System), "The Amateur Link BBS" in Kelowna, BC.  I soon linked the two Digital Modes to allow Amateur Radio Operators a way to "Dial-in" and connect out over Amateur "Packet" Radio.

I was a participant in BC Systems meetings that took place in the Okanagan to make plans to bring the Internet to the general public.  This opened a whole new world to explore however it soon decreased the usage of BBS's and Packet Radio.

Now the Internet is being used to communicate world wide and make the Science Fiction from the 60's and 70's a reality.  It is amazing how far we have come in the past 30+ years.
